Calgary’s residents come together during the holiday season, demonstrating kindness, compassion, and a commitment to helping others in need. The holidays in Calgary, like many other cities, often see a surge in fundraising. The people of Calgary demonstrate their generosity and compassion by actively participating in various charitable initiatives. There are many ways to engage in donating or fundraising during the season in Calgary.
Food and Clothing Drives: Many organizations, churches, schools, and community groups organize food and clothing drives to support local shelters and food banks. These drives aim to collect non-perishable food items, warm clothing, blankets, and other essentials for those in need.
Toy and Gift Drives: Various charities and businesses run toy drives to collect gifts for children from less fortunate families. These gifts are distributed to make the holiday season brighter for kids who might not otherwise receive presents.
Volunteering at Shelters and Kitchens: Volunteering at homeless shelters or soup kitchens is common during the holidays. Organizations like the Calgary Food Bank, Mustard Seed, and the Salvation Army often seek volunteers to help serve meals, organize donations, or assist in other tasks.
Charity Events and Fundraisers: Many local charities and nonprofit organizations in Calgary host special events and fundraisers during the holiday season. These events might include galas, auctions, or holiday-themed fundraisers to raise money for various causes.
Online Fundraising Campaigns: With the rise of online platforms, individuals, groups, and organizations in Calgary often launch crowdfunding campaigns or donation drives through platforms like GoFundMe, Kickstarter, or through their websites to support specific causes or individuals in need.
Corporate Giving and Sponsorship Programs: Many corporations in Calgary also engage in holiday giving by sponsoring charitable events, making donations, or encouraging employees to participate in volunteering activities.
