Welcome to the community of Lakeview in southwest Calgary along the north shore of Glenmore Reservoir with gently rolling landscape providing glimpses of Glenmore Reservoir and the Elbow River Valley.
Nestled between Glenmore Trail Sw and Crowchild Trail SW to 37th Street SW, the western city limits at this point. The Tsuu T'ina Nation Indian reserve borders it to the west.
Lakeview is within Calgary which sits on Treaty 7 territory, on the lands of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Iyarhe Nakoda, and TsuuT’ina Nations, as well as Region 3 of the Alberta Métis Nation.
The Calgary Rowing Club and Calgary Canoe Club are located in the south of the community, adjacent to the Glenmore Reservoir.
Lakeview residents can access a number of outdoor recreational opportunities, including Glenmore Park, boat docks, regional bike paths, Weaselhead flats hiking trail, and Heritage Park. Numerous hiking and cycling trails are maintained on the shores of the Reservoir, between the Weaselhead flats and Glenmore Trail. Residents can also access Earl Grey Golf Course and the Lakeview Golf Course.
The Lakeview community association is active within the neighborhood. The community hall, which consists of a main hall as well as a number of smaller meeting rooms, hosts a number of groups, including Sparks, Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders, Quilting, arts and crafts, martial arts, and weekly Bridge club. They maintain a skating rink each winter, and have a popular summer soccer program. A community preschool and excellent playground facility is located nearby the hall. Lakeview also hosts a number of special events each year and continually works on new projects.
There are a number of schools in the area, at various levels, such as Connect Charter School, Bishop Pinkham Junior High School, Jennie Elliott Elementary School and Calgary Girls' School. In addition to Rundle Academy for students with learning disabilities and the ever-expanding Mount Royal University.
Lakeview is one of the few subdivisions in the City that can offer oversize lots, mature trees and larger luxury estate style homes but townhouses and some apartments are available as well. A quiet setting all with easy access to downtown Calgary via Crowchild Trail.
Residents of homes in Lakeview have quick access to the Marda Loop shopping/restaurant district offering a wide range of specialty shops, drug stores, boutiques, restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. A variety of services are available including medical and dental clinics, gym and yoga studios, salons, banks and business offices. There have been a number of new commercial buildings completed in the past few years offering leasing opportunities for businesses away from the downtown core. Lakeview is also a short 5 minute drive over the Glenmore causeway to Calgary's most popular mall, Chinook Centre.
